Minus 22 reported in Smoky Mountains

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee remains in the grip of frigid weather, including a minus 22 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Park officials said the overnight low at Mount LeConte up in the mountains was within 10 degrees of the all-time record low at the site, minus 32, on Jan. 21, 1985.

The National Weather Service forecast lows Wednesday night including 10-12 in the Tri-Cities, 4-13 in the Mountain City-Erwin area, 13 in Knoxville, 14 in Chattanooga, 13 in Nashville, 10-15 in Dyersburg and Jackson and 15-20 in Memphis.

However, it should be getting warmer with highs expected in the 60s statewide Saturday.
