On the Menu: The English Rose

Where: The English Rose, 1401 Market St.

What: The chicken and vegetable pie, made from scratch with tender white-meat chicken, peas and carrots blended in a creamy mushroom sauce is served in a casserole and topped with savory mashed potatoes. It’s just one of the authentic English offerings at this charming Southside eatery. Manager Clara Dollar describes it as a dish typically served as a pub lunch around England and is very popular. It’s a dish that’s comfort through and through, she said.
