During the republican primary Romney chose to run on his business experience. He said he knew how the economy works and how jobs are created. Didn't bring up his time as Massachusetts governor much. Didn't talk much about his role in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Fine, but now when people ask Mitt specific questions about his business experience he has a tough time with specific answers. Like why won't he release more than one or two years of tax returns? If he really retired from Bain in 1999, why did he draw a salary until 2002? If he was 'on leave' and 'retired retroactively,' did he have to return the money? Oh, and how much money did he make exactly? Officially, Romney was paid AT LEAST $100,000 each year between 99 and 02. We don't know how much more. Could have been $5. Could have been $5 Trillion. How ever much it was, did he have to return it? Oh, and while he was 'on leave' and before he 'retired retroactively,' the SEC received filings from Bain Capital stating quite clearly that Mitt was still president, ceo, chairman of the board, sole stockholder, managing partner, and still drawing an annual salary. Even if he was, as he claims, not involved in the day-to-day operations, Bain was still his company. Trying to blame the people he 'left in charge' is weak.

Mitt chose to run for president based on his business experience. Now he's mad because his opponent is running negative ads focused on his business experience. Maybe Mitt hasn't responded because he knows voters won't like his answers.

In the immortal words of Texas governor Rick Perry, “There’s a real difference between venture capitalism and vulture capitalism."

The longer that Mitt Romney claims that he has not been guilty of stashing money in safe havens and the longer he refuses to come clean about his involvement with Bain Capital after 1999, the worse it looks for the man.

He can demand all the apologies he wants and pound his fist as hard on a podium until it splinters, but unless he releases those tax returns that he is hanging onto for dear life, his pleas fall on deaf ears.

Now people can blame the President for these "baseless" attacks, but Mit Romney drew first blood when he pinned the weak jobs numbers on the back of the President. He then opened the door for all that has come his way ever since. Massachusetts was 47th in job creation while he was Governor.

When Romney points his index finger at ObamaCare, four more are pointed straight back at him for signing RomneyCare into law, not that there was a thing wrong with the Massachusetts health care reform still in effect. His extremely weak argument that health care reform should be left to the states as a means to deflect criticism is pathetic.

Romney is losing ground, and he will continue to lose ground if he doesn't come clean on the two issues that are threatening to derail his candidacy.

Release those tax returns and come clean about his tax havens, or the rumors, if they are indeed rumors, are going to hit bullseye targets, no matter who brings them to the surface.

We're going to have to wait until October the 3rd, the 11th, the 16th, and the 22nd, before these two will stand on a stage and debate one another.

Quite frankly, the election is going to be determined by the way that each man carries himself during those debates, rather than due to the current attacks on each other.

And the President has proven himself to be a master debator.

Have fun with that people. It's going to be a blast.

I think it's rich that Mittens sat in his church pew all those years while his faith would not even allow blacks to reach full salvation just because they were black and unworthy. Here's one of Mittens big backers. Things are getting awkward for Sheldon Adelson, the casino magnate who pledged to spend a “limitless” amount of money to get Mitt Romney elected. Adelson’s latest woes stem from business practices surrounding his lucrative casino in Macau, the only Chinese city with legalized gambling.

The Macau operation has long been under scrutiny but a new in-depth investigation from ProPublica and PBS focused on allegations of improper, and perhaps in some cases illegal, business dealings by Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands company in China. While focusing on the possibility that Sands violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act with a $700,000 payment to a Chinese associate, PBS also released documents that bolstered accusations of business ties between Adelson’s shop and Chinese organized crime figures.

When Romney points his index finger at ObamaCare he is pointing out the largest tax increase in the history of America since the inception of the federal income tax. Romney is pointing out that Hussein Obama said he would not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000.00 per year which is just another Hussein Obama lie. Hussein Obama has not enough intelligence to debate anyone without his teleprompter in place with his little communist friends behind the curtains telling him how to respond. He is that much of a pathetic liar. If Hussein Obama is so smart then why will he not release his grades or college papers? It is because he is ashamed of them. If Hussein Obama is doing such a good job then why does he not run of his accomplishments versus continuously attacking Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney? The reason is simple. His policies and failures are not popular with anyone with a hint of intelligence.

Hussein Obama, Moochelle and all their followers really do hate America and it is proven by his policies he wants America destroyed.

Each new day seems to bring in a different page from this Romney "locked" life book. Today I read he outsourced the 2002 Winter Olympics torchbearer uniforms to Burma. On a Sunday talk show one of his primary campaign guys stated that Romney supported corporate flexibility for maximum stockholder profits, not mentioning any support for our country's need for taxes and jobs. So, I guess we'll all wait in suspense as portions of this little book is revealed.

Blackie, You need to really get a grip. Mitt went to Harvard business school and Harvard law school at the same time ,He passed the Michigan Bar but never practiced law. As Gov he took no salary nor did he take one for the olimpics . He eliminated a 1.5 million dollar deficit in Mass. Gave his entire inheiritance to charity. He says he is willing to show his tax returns. I haven't seen the last ten years tax returns of the Obamas have you? Unlike Obama he is willing to release his high school and college transcripts. His law degree, His medical records and his draft notice. Obama spent millions of dollars keeping his from the american people. Anniebelle, Obama is now trying to get donors from france & switzerland. Unions are in bed with him and he has all the marxist actors in his camp. In 2008 Wallstreet was big for him now most are jumping ship. Then there is the bankrupt solar industries, his buddies that made millions of the backs of tax payers. Alpo, Mass may have been 47th in job creation but when he left office the unemployment in Mass was less than 5%.

A closed book? Hilarious! What a double standard. Obama's past is still a mystery and the media has done everything it can to cover up or suppress disturbing facts about him. Talk about "projection". Obama's main budget guy is a former Bain man. Nobody gives a rats ass about Bain, but they do care about what this country has become under Obama, which is a hopeless mess with a daily sense of impending doom. With each passing day you Obama followers resemble more and more the people who fell in lockstep with Hitler and all the other lunatics who disguise themselves as a "man of the people" . •This is what is listed on all SEC filings from 1999-2002. He signed all regulatory filings as the CEO, President, Board Chairman and Sole Stockholder for Bain during this time.

Why this is a problem:

1.The FEC and SEC are federal entities, and filing false information with either is a felony. He filed mutually exclusive statements with these entities, and if one is true, the other is a lie as both cannot coexist. 2.Bain did a lot of lousy stuff during that 3 year window: becoming an industry leader in sending US jobs to Asia and India (outsourcing), taking out debt and bankrupting companies they bought, and wiping out the pensions of tens of thousands of people - who were then made whole/partially whole on the backs of US taxpayers in bailouts. In one noted case, Bain made $102 million in shuttering a company, where they could have made $80 million and left the pensions intact rather than letting the US taxpayers pick up the tab for that. Romney wants to distance himself from these activities after the fact. 3.Of special note to you, look up Stericycle. This company specializes in medical waste, and part of their role is the disposal of aborted fetuses. Romney and Bain invested millions (believed $8 million of a $75 million investment consortium) in Stericycle in November of 1999. Doubtful he wants that out there. Now, his campaign is trying to sell the public on the fact that he drew an annual salary in excess of $100k from Bain from 1999-2002 (exact amount unknown, $100k+ is from his election disclosure filings to the FEC) - while not doing anything at Bain. No work, no phone calls, no board meetings, and no involvement in decisions. He was just paid to sign SEC papers on what the people who worked for him were doing - without any oversight or approval from him.

I agree with the Good Samaritan parable. It does not mean the government should take and redistribute the hard earned money of others keeping some for their wealthy friends and distribute the rest as they see fit. The Good Samaritan parable means we should as individuals (a term not understood by liberals) help others in need. It is our responsibility not a corrupt governments responsibility. The corrupt Hussein Obama regime lacks the integrity to help those truly in need. Look at how much the unions received from the taxpayers, Solyndra, CEO's. Where is the transparency Hussein Obama promised so we can see what other friends he is distributing money to? How do you know obamacare is better than what we have now? You do not. During The O’Reilly Factor’s Talking Points Memo, host Bill O’Reilly revealed the truth behind the president’s claims that Mitt Romney outsourced jobs during his tenure at Bain Capital. O’Reilly reported, “According to analysis by, Bain Capital under Romney did invest in companies that did outsource. But that’s not unusual — so did the Obama administration.”

“How can President Obama attack Romney for outsourcing when he did the exact same thing?” wondered O’Reilly, who added that, “The Obama administration has continued to make billions of taxpayer dollars available to the General Electric corporation, mostly through loans but there were some grants for green energy projects. GE employs about 300,000 people. Fewer than half – 131,000 — are working in the USA. Let me repeat, less than half of GE’s workforce are employed in America.”

To add to O’Reilly’s argument, according to The New York Times, GE paid zero federal income tax in 2010. Nevertheless, President Obama continues to praise GE’s CEO Jeffrey Immelt. In a speech, the president championed GE, saying, “I am so proud and pleased that Jeff has agreed to chair this panel — my council on jobs and competitiveness — because we think GE has something to teach businesses all across America.”

Obozo; "But,but, but, where's your tax return?"

Romney; "your energy policies STINK. Gas is hovering at $4 per gallon, at a time when Americans can ill afford it. Energy prices have SKYROCKETED as a result of your poor policies".

There's nothing wrong with outsourcing -- you don't hear people bitch about the low, low prices they're paying for products and services.

Unfortunately, most people don't think entirely through the picture and appreciate the economies of scale and cost-savings outsourcing has produced for Americans, especially for menial, simple jobs that can easily be shipped off to a foreign worker at pennies on the dollar.

You guys who think I'm full of sh*t -- get over it. Instead of REACTING and belly-aching about outsourcing this, my-job that, blah blah blah -- retool and re-equip yourself and take on a job where you become INDISPENSABLE.

Otherwise, you will ALWAYS be at the mercy of automation, outsourcing, or any other productivity-enhancing program.

Being ‘not-Obama’,is the only thing Romney’s got left. He has not proposed ANYTHING other than the usual childs menu of Republican ideas. I.e. tax cuts! He has not identified himself with any policies, foreign or domestic. And everyone knows he doesn’t believe in - well - anything.

The SEC filings alone are pretty damning, which tells me that his tax returns are going to be even dirtier. What will be verrrry interesting will be contradictions between the two. Was Romney cheating on his taxes? Do they name him as the boss of Bain via income forms and so forth? There's something really bad in those forms, or he would never have let serial liars like Gingrich rip him up and wouldn't be standing with his thumb up his ‘you know what” as the Democrats tear him down. His past tax returns will illustrate his ongoing fraud and why he simply can't take the risk of releasing them. And that's why leaning against the closet door trying to hide all the bodies. Hoping we’ll all forget about it.

Romney is a man of entitlement who is always blindsided when someone dares to question him. Which also explains why a room of political pros can't help him figure this out. Or maybe Romney has gone all in on,(like I said earlier) being ‘not-Obama’ and figures he can weather the storms between now and November when people go to the voting booth and cast a vote for Obama or ... ‘not-Obama’.

Maybe one day Romney will receive a conscience --- retroactively of course.

Chances are you've probably been walking under fluorescent light bulbs for most of your life, and yet never even think to look up and fear them. Or do you avoid going into stores and offices?

Where's the great number of people suffering from mercury poisoning from them? Where?

BTW, if you wanted Obama's tax returns, they've been available. 12 years of them.

If you look at Alex Jones prior to Obama, you will see a much different Jones regarding the NWO. Alex has made no bones about the fact that he hates Obama. His opinion is no longer even close to fact. So go ahead and believe the hype. But if you want to talk NWO, you will have to include your guys Raygun, Daddy Bush, and Bush junior. Alex Jones is now just carrying the torch for the fear mongers. His livelihood depends on it. There is even some speculation that Joneses himself is working for the NWO. Wake up!

"The disinformation that Alex Jones charismatically preaches shifts the blame away from the Zionists and onto other people, mainly Americans, Arabs, and sometimes the British or the Chinese. Most of the people in the “truth movement” are using this deceptive method—it is crucial to identifying this technique to avoid the trap of being a “blind follower” of a change operative agent."

As for you TOES02800, and all the other snake oil suckers – er - I mean customers,

I’m NOT an Obama supporter. My criticizing Obamney was in no way tooting a horn for him. But Obama wasn’t a fraud ‘before’ he took office, and Clay’s cartoon is certainly relevant. It is a matter of honesty, integrity and credibility. All of which Romney HAS NONE of. Don’t forget, Romney was rebuffed by McCain as VP because even the McCain people told him he wasn't an acceptable risk after looking at his past financials and tax records!!

Those who can’t rely on the integrity of their champion will always resort to diversion.

I have not requested either to show anything regarding their academic performance in school, and I will not, because I simply do not care.

For Mitt Romney? I care about his business records. Why? Because he is running on that experience as a justification for his election. So...why not ask him to back it up? As I pointed out, Barack Obama's tax records are available for the past 12 years, and if you want his work history, his work in Congress and as a State Senator should already be a matter of public record. Before that? I'm sure there are records of Obama's work as a lawyer, but I can understand how much of it simply can't be released. Attorney-Client privilege is pretty strict.

I don't care about what he did in school, though I understand the Harvard Law Review is a published work. Why not read that, if you want a sense of him?

Me? I don't care. I think you're not even honest about your alleged concern either. So yeah, why don't YOU be HONEST and admit you're only stirring up trouble?

If it turns out he was in charge of Bain and took that deduction at the same time there is a world of hurt waiting after the election from the IRS.

And they already have his tax returns.

And the other piece of it - there is no statute of limitations if the IRS suspects fraud.

From the tax code:

(c) Exceptions

(1) False return

In the case of a false or fraudulent return with the intent to evade tax, the tax may be assessed, or a proceeding in court for collection of such tax may be begun without assessment, at any time.

(2) Willful attempt to evade tax

In case of a willful attempt in any manner to defeat or evade tax imposed by this title (other than tax imposed by subtitle A or B), the tax may be assessed, or a proceeding in court for the collection of such tax may be begun without assessment, at any time.

(3) No return

Con, you are one lazy fellow, or is it that you just want to fight?

"We’re not about Dogma here. We’re just Christians who think the political and Christian right-wing have their priorities wrong.

Wikipedia says it pretty well in the following paragraphs:

The Christian left is a term originating in the United States, used to describe a spectrum of left-wing Christian political and social movements which largely embraces social justice."

"No matter your Christian denomination, Jesus Is A Liberal welcomes all Liberal Christians. So what does the term "liberal Christian" mean? Liberal Christian is an umbrella term for any liberal member of the many Protestant denominations, or churches within denominations, who view the Bible as the witness of God rather than the word of God, to be interpreted in its historical context through critical analysis, and with a focus on Jesus' statements on peace, justice, fairness, compassion and love."

Romney will not win the election, and that is just how the Republicans want it. They can scrap and fight Obama, all the while running shoddy legislation and draconian laws in forcing our cities and counties into bankrupsy. The goal is not to win. The goal is to tear apart.

Though he may embrace the middle class rhetorically, his actual policy tells a different story. Romney plans to increase the taxes for half of middle class families with children, while his wealthy fundraiser attendees who make $1 million or more would get an annual tax cut of nearly $150,000. He also wants to make it easier for companies to outsource jobs; by exempting companies from taxes on foreign profits, Romney could send as many as 800,000 jobs overseas.

He also recently flipped his position on raising the minimum wage, saying, “There’s probably not a need to raise the minimum wage.” In Mississippi, the minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and the minimum wage for tipped employees is an even lower $2.13. The minimum wage would need be be near $10 today to have the purchasing power that it had in the 1960s.

Just a few months ago, Romney dismissed concern for the struggling middle class as “envy” and “class warfare.” Now he’s trying to change his tune a bit, while still embracing policies that would do no favors for American workers.

mymy, I believe I would check my facts before proclaiming Romney did not use taxpayer funds to bail him out. Mitt Romney touts his business acumen and job-creation record as a key qualification for being the next U.S. president. What’s clear from a review of the public record during his management of the private-equity firm Bain Capital from 1985 to 1999 is that Romney was fabulously successful in generating high returns for its investors. He did so, in large part, through heavy use of tax-deductible debt, usually to finance outsized dividends for the firm’s partners and investors. When some of the investments went bad, workers and creditors felt most of the pain. Romney privatized the gains and socialized the losses.

Ya gotta love it.

Reading the postings in this paper over time leaves me with the following conclusion:

**The majority of the American populace is absorbed in the distractions of mass media’s deliberate ‘magical thinking’ programming, corporate propaganda and stupidity indoctrination. It’s rammed down our throats every waking minute of every day. People like Oprah Winfrey do it all – the – time! IT’S EVERYWHERE! And that has created a culture of idiocy that is the most delusional/illusioned culture on the planet. And as they remain in this illusion, they remain in a state of perpetual infantilism, childishness and never really (or wanting ) to grow up! So, the gap is widening between the illusion of who we think we are and where we’re going -- and reality. They can’t even see it, and even when shown will cover their eyes and ears. Or change the channel.

**Paraphrased from Chris Hedges.

In the meantime, all of the socialists mentioned above, and some other critical thinkers here are going to meet at the Trinity United Church of Christ and worship with Jeremiah Wright and ask forgiveness from Obama. That’d be a Tuesday Joneses. So now you know. K?

After which we are all going to Howard Johnson's for fried clams. Wanna go?

But his actions, Selective Service records and previous statements show little interest in joining a conflict that ultimately claimed more than 58,000 American lives."
Yep, JonRoss, he's no John McCain. You're right!

Does it really matter who is elected? Neither of them have any common worker real world experience and both have significant wealth. People have some idea how Romney became wealthy. How did Obama become a multi-millionaire? The debt levels around the world following the move away from the gold standard are unsustainable and cannot be paid or significantly reduced. At some point, in the not too distant future, there will be a world wide depression that will make the last depression a cake walk. The few that have some idea of the fiscal predicament of most countires including the U.S. are not prone to create the panic the truth would cause and they know that the vast majority would continue being in a state of denial and continue demanding more of their government. When you can just print more money (buy another monopoly set just to use the money) with nothing to support it except the confiscation of wealth from the people cannot have a good long term result.

After Rmoney took over a company and gutted it, the taxpayer was left to pay the retirement funds for these employees. This was money borrowed by Bain and drove the companies into bankruptcy and Rmoney, just from one company, pocketed over $44,000,000.

In 1974, Congress created a federal pension insurance program for certain private retirement plans. This program is administered by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). What plans are protected by the PBGC? Most traditional private pension plans, commonly known as defined benefit plans, are protected by the PBGC, but not all. For example, certain plans covering only top executives or funded only by union dues contributions are not insured. Other uninsured plans include those of religious organizations that have chosen not to be covered by the private pension law, and plans set up by doctors, lawyers, architects, or business with less than 25 employees.

I have been wondering that myself. It is pretty certain that Obama would take the country to collapse given another 4 years. It may already be too late. It is hard to believe Romney would have the strength to do what needs to be done, it will be too painful, cost his politico buddies too much. Ron Paul is the only candidate that gets it and would make a substantial change of course happen. Calvin Coolidge was another such man, and he left office with something like a 22% approval rating. No political party would be willing to pay that price for doing what needs to be done.

As I wrote before those at "Jesus is a Liberal" are not Christians but what I call CINO - Christian In Name Only.

In their first sentence I pointed out that they were exclusionary - "Jesus is a Liberal welcomes all Liberal Christians."

Now I want to turn your attention to a monumental LIE! In the second sentence they state - "Liberal Christian is an umbrella term for any liberal member of the many Protestant denominations, or churches within denominations, who view the Bible as the witness of God rather than the word of God"

As I wrote yesterday, flee from these people, they are liars.

Why do they deny that the Bible is the word of God? It is simply because what they teach about Jesus is not according to Scripture. Scripture is the word of God - "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."2 Timothy 3:15-17.

One could not know the person and work of Jesus apart from the word of God. Since they falsely teach about who Jesus is, what he taught, what he commands, what his purpose was, they must deny the word of God where one would find who Jesus is and what he taught.

I WILL NOT vote for either one of those creeps. Hence the BOOM - I never made it out of the booth. Get it now? It’s about principles.

Romney? He’s a chickenhawk pussy, plain and simple. However, it's already been debunked:

Alex Stanton, a spokesperson for Bain Capitol, does not dispute that Lavine was on the board of Ampad, but insists that he had nothing to do with the workers being laid off in Marion, Indiana.

“Jonathan Lavine was not at Bain Capital when Ampad was acquired by the firm, and was not involved on the investment during the challenging situation at the Marion plant. The assertion he had any involvement with those events is totally false,” said Stanton in a statement.

What I do have a problem with is those earning that much money and then trying to wiggle out of paying a higher percentage of that income in income taxes.

Sununu’s assertion that Obama is not an American is inappropriate enough in its own right, as he himself admitted, but it’s even more absurd considering that Sununu himself has faced questions about his ethnic heritage throughout his political career. He was born in Cuba and is of Greek, Lebanese and Palestinian descent. A New York Times story from 1988 notes that Sununu “says he has received hundreds of telephone calls about his heritage.” Sununu’s son, John E., who served as a senator from New Hampshire, spoke movingly about the “scrutiny” his father faced for being Arab-American. Sununu said at the American Task on Palestine Inaugural Gala in 2006.

And I notice they've pulled out another one of their big fat white blobs, Chris Christie to be his usual offensive self. Boy your party is full of it!

You guys sure are ganging up on anniebelle! Fortunately for her, you're a bunch of dirt-dumb dropouts. It's hilarious that you've got to deal with having an African American Commander in Chief, after your ignorant parents raised you to believe that you were superior to African Americans in some intangible, consult-the-Farmer's-Almanac way. He's dining in the White House with luminaries from around the world, and the only dent you'll ever put in this world will be with a shopping cart in the Bi-Lo parking lot.

There are a few examples of falsehoods and misleading information contained in joneses posted video.

First of all, the percentages that are quoted in the video and widely claimed elsewhere, reportedly came from the U.S. Census Bureau, but there is a big problem with citing the U.S. Census as the source of this information. Why?

Because during the 2010 Census, the long form questionaire was not used, when such information would normally be asked. The ten questions asked on the short form only had to do with the number of people living in the home, their ages, race, and the home phone number.

So where did this data come from? Census compilations are very unreliable, because only one in six (16.5%) of all households are targeted with extended questions, and the numbers are averaged across the entire nation.

The increase in recent years of those who receive assistance from the Gov't is fueled in large part by the effects of the persistent recession. Unemployment Compensation is definitely up. Due to a large drop in household income, those receiving food stamps are also up.

The assertion that bonuses paid to states "By Obama" for signing up more people for food stamp benefits, is a shameful lie. The Food Stamp program was renamed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the bonus awards program was born as well, as part of the 2002 Congressional Farm Bill. President George Walker Bush signed the bonus program into law.

States demonstrating exceptional administration of their SNAP programs are awarded performance bonuses. The bonuses are based on payment accuracy, fraud reduction, application processing timeliness, and other efficiences that reduce the cost of providing assistance to those in need.

On July 2, 2012, Florida received a bonus of $9.1 million, the fifth year in a row that the state has received SNAP efficiency performance bonuses, which have totaled more than $40 million.

Another shameful misrepresentation contained in that video, was to lump Medicare recipients into the mix. That program is there for the elderly of retirement age and those who are disabled. Recipients who receive benefits paid money into the program in order to be eligible for those benefits.

Recent increases in the number of recipients in both the Social Security and Medicare programs, is entirely due to the simple fact that baby boomers, commonly refered to as those born between 1946 and 1964, started reaching early retirement age four years ago.

Don't be duped by people seeking to further their anti-Obama agenda, by stoking their communications with disprovable lies.

100%. The first peacetime income tax, was passed in 1894, which consisted of an assessment of 2% on income over $4000 or $107,446.15 in today's dollars.

The income tax was never intended to impose on people who fall into lower income classes. It was passed to only impose upon those who could afford to part with what was considered to be a portion of their disposable income.

Alpo thinks 5% of people can tow the line for the other 95%. With liberal mindsets wanting to expand government entitlements, that will NEVER be enough. Alpo must admit that the tax burden will HAVE to fall to lower and lower income classes. Thus, going against the very thing he claims to stand for. Liberal and quasi-socialist theory is not sustainable.

You can only go to the well so many times alpo before the bucket starts coming up empty. Liberalism never created a single dime, all it can do is take. And you can only take for so long.

In 1868, Congress again focused its taxation efforts on tobacco and distilled spirits and eliminated the income tax in 1872. It had a short-lived revival in 1894 and 1895. In the latter year, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that the income tax was unconstitutional because it was not apportioned among the states in conformity with the Constitution.

In terms of what is collected as part of the revenue taken in from personal income taxes, yes. The simple fact of the matter is there are people who can afford to pay income taxes and continue to live very comfortable lifestyles and there are those who barely scrape by on what they earn.

You do realize that not all revenue that the Gov't takes in, comes strictly from income taxes, don't you?

"With liberal mindsets wanting to expand government entitlements, that will NEVER be enough."

Well, without an understanding of which "entitlements" that you are referring to, you make it rather difficult to respond.

"Alpo must admit that the tax burden will HAVE to fall to lower and lower income classes."

Nope. Sorry. I will not admit that at all. Income taxes of as little as 10%, to some, do nothing more than to deprive them of enough money to provide the basics to themselves and their families.

"Thus, going against the very thing he claims to stand for."

I doubt very seriously that you have the first clue as to what I stand for.

"Liberal and quasi-socialist theory is not sustainable."

Like I said...

"You can only go to the well so many times alpo before the bucket starts coming up empty. Liberalism never created a single dime, all it can do is take. And you can only take for so long."

Okay then. If you think that Liberalism is as you just described, then explain to me how Conservatism has ever created a single dime. Keep in mind that you specifically used the word "created."

From my vantage point, many Conservatives are modern-day reverse Robin Hoods. They are totally for idealisms that include stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

I don't understand the time spent talking about seeing tax returns, college transcripts, birth certificates etc. of either candidate as worthy of the time and distraction it brings. Require each candidate to be specific regarding what they would do if elected in all matters falling under the presidents umbrella. Publicize those programs and actions with reasons why widely and in detail then let people select the candidate they prefer. There is way too much time and money spent campaigning. Their plans and promises need to be documented so there is no future confusion when they are held accountable for their actions opposite their promises. Is that too simple?

Here's another bit from that unAmerican Rmoneyu. During an interview with the National Review's Robert Costa, Romney said that offshore sub-companies in the Cayman Islands help foreign investors avoid paying taxes on investments in the United States. Bain Capital currently has 138 such sub-companies headquartered in the Cayman Islands.

In the bigger picture, the troubles Romney is encountering in his presidential campaign this week around both his unwillingness to release his tax returns and his record at Bain indicate that the businessman turned politician model is not going to be as successful as many in the Republican Party hoped. For years, the Republican Party searched for the non-politician businessman who could deliver his pro-business message without being viewed as simply another politician. Romney, despite his one term in elected office, fits this description well. The problem for the Republicans is that the American people, particularly after 2008, are less enthralled by the magical powers, and more suspicious of the true methods, of business success than they have been in decades. Romney would have made a good candidate in 1980, 1988 or even 2000, but today his wealth and strong ties to the finance world, are on balance, negatives. The concern around tax returns may only be the tip of the iceberg of how Americans are beginning to view their politicians differently, and Romney is the first victim of this.

another delightful fact about this unAmerican Rmoney:
From the delightful gift that is John McCain's opposition research on Mitt comes the sordid tale of Mitt's tenure on the board of Damon Clinical Laboratories, which plead guilty to charges of defrauding Medicare and agreed to pay what was at the time the largest health care criminal fraud fine in history - $35,300,000. They also agreed to larger civil fines which totaled $83,700,000.

harp, the reason we want to see the tax returns of the one who might possibly head up our country, is to see if his loyaties really lie with the U.S. or Switzerland, or the Grand Caymans, or Bermuda. This is a precedent set many years ago and is expected as a point of fact. I truly do not understand this constant request for an American citizen's birth certificate, again and again, ad nauseum. Nor have we ever requested to see their transccripts from the college they attended. Down and dirty is the only way a republican is going to regain control of this country.
