Chattanooga man arrested in connection with poker-game shooting

A 47-year-old Chattanooga man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a man at a poker game.

Edward Lopez Jackson has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to Chattanooga police spokesman Officer Nathan Hartwig.

The victim of Wednesday night’s shooting at 718 Castle Drive is 40-year-old Jimmy Bush, who is still listed in critical condition, Hartwig said.

Homicide investigators believe that Jackson and Bush were playing poker game and shooting dice when they began to argue, which led to the shooting.

The owner of the home on Castle Drive, Cedric Paige, has also been arrested on outstanding warrants for promotion of gambling and possession of gambling devices which were previously issued by the Chattanooga Police Department’s Vice Unit, Hartwig said.
