Carol Berz is unopposed in her bid to win re-election to the District 6 Chattanooga City Council seat. Her lack of opposition is clearly a function of the active role she has taken in her district, which includes the Eastgate Town Center and the Old Towne Brainerd, Brainerd Hills, Alta Vista and Belvoir neighborhoods, among others. Berz holds frequent summits with constituents and is a familiar face at events in District 6.
As a council member, Berz is a strong voice for her district, but certainly leaves plenty to be desired for fiscally conservative voters. In 2010, Berz supported a hefty property tax increase and claims that city leaders should have voted to increase taxes "ages ago."
On the bright side, Berz supports zero-based budgeting. That idea would force city agencies to properly define their roles, then develop goals within those roles. Each bureaucracy's budget would then be recalibrated based on the money necessary to reach those goals, rather than simply increased blindly from year to year. Such budgeting reform would be a step in the right direction for the city.

Berz leaves everything to be desired as a responsible steward of public money, and common sense for that matter. No worries, there will be someone to run against her next time, or worst case, we will recall her. Now, we are sure how it is done. Berz voting records STINKS!
Bertz is a power structure hack.
