This is a "red" state, a place where businesses can do what they like. The emphasis is on doing what is good for business, not what is right for people. Mr. Meeker is dead and we haven't even been told the name of the truck driver. But it doesn't matter because he was in the process of forcing a biker off the road so he could make money. Deny that!

I cruise in my motorize wheelchair but I used to walk with crutches and a brace. Post-polio syndrome is one of the categories accepted to get social security disabiliity. Also, consider getting meals on wheels if you have trouble preparing your meals. At leaset it will provide you with one good meal a day. But, most important, come to sypport group meetings. As the story points out, there are few medical professionals who know about our problems, so come and listen.

There are cameras that monitor the Walnut St. bridge but I have been told that no one actually watches it. The cameras are supposedly used to gather information after a crime has been committed. In downtown London the cameras are monitored by a group of officers and police are immediately dispatched when a crime is happening. Chattanooga government seems quick to get new technology, but they are slow to provide the folks to use it.

Ms. Scott makes some good points but she needs to acknowledge that Chattanooga government is one of the lowest funded. Funding wasn't good here before the recent financial crisis, and they sure aren't good now. Chattanooga is chaning and politicians who don't see this should be put out to pasture.
