After finishing 1 and 11 every football scholarship for the fall 2009 football season should be up for grabs. No one on the team should feel secure about maintaining their scholarship for the fall. Spring practice should be a battle where the players that want to win the most will be the last left standing. Allison was right, the problem was coaching but an even bigger problem was player skill and talent level. Team speed at the skill positions and the offensive and defensive lines are huge issues where we were outplayed and out manned in most every game. In other words, recruiting. Coach Jason McManus, the recruiting coordinator should not be retained. In fact, none of the coaches should be retained. Every last vestige of this horrific season should be forgotten. All of the coaches must go and the players that buy into the new leadership team, work hard, and earn a scholarship will be moving forward to a brighter future for UTC football. There is no where to go but up!

In the often used words of the most losing football coach in the 100 year history of UTC Mocs football...."We just had the kind of deal where we had a lot of losing and stuff." Thank God the painful Allison era is over. His main accomplishment was treating young men like children and it showed with weak performance on the field. If your best accomplishment as a coach was signing "good kids" and forcing them to go to class then you have a big problem. We don't need a father figure for our football team we need a football coach that instills respect, discipline, motivation and trains the players to be gentlemen students off the field and raging maniacs on the field. On the field the players should play by the rules but take no prisoners. In the words of the famous U.S. Army general George Patton...."I hope the Lord shows mercy on our enemies because I sure as hell won't!" It's about execution and attitude. Our new coach will find out this spring who wants to win bad enough. Or should I say who hates to lose the most. This spring, every scholarship for the fall 2009 season should be up for grabs. Those that battle it out and buy in to the new program may win scholarships. In order to turn this program around, we must change the culture with the existing players and bring in new blood where we are weak. We are weak in a LOT of areas. Go Mocs!

Well I think I burned out my retina's watching what was one of the most painful Mocs football seasons ever. In words our 17-51, most losing coach in Mocs football history, needs to be a high school assistant for the rest of his life, would say...."We just had the kind of deal where we had a lot of losing and stuff." Thank God the Allison nightmare is over and we can look to the future. After finishing with a record losing season of 1-11 come spring practice ALL and I mean ALL football scholarships for the 2009 fall football season should be up for grabs. Our team played hard but we obviously have some issues with attitude, execution and talent that can only be resolved by battling it out on the practice field with our existing players and adding new blood. Spring practice should be about changing the losing culture by finding out who wants to win bad enough. Or should I say who hates to lose bad enough!

The schedule and injuries had nothing to do with the Mocs inability to win games this year. It had everything to do with a head coach that did not have the ability or put fourth the effort to be an effective leader. Fortunately, we are getting rid of this issue and the future for the program is bright. It is sad that Coach Allison is making excuses for his failure.

What can we expect from Rodney. He has built a middle of the road division two team at best during his head coaching tenure at UTC. It is understandable that he can't see that Jare Gault is the best athlete that he has at quarterback. His judgement of football talent is not exactly stellar. As for character, I have it from a very good source that Rodney did not say who the starting quarterback was going to be until after the kickoff of last weeks beat down by Appy State. That's real nice of you Rodney, keep the kids in suspense. Nice integrity! Enjoy the long bus ride over to Charleston to get your ass handed to you. Go ahead and start your son against the first teamers for a change. Better get the paramedics ready. The Cadets from the Citadel will show no mercy. We know you don't care about winning these last two games. It's all about you, right? After all, YOU were a Heisman candidate back in the 70's. Maybe you can relive that thrill through your son. Of course it would be nice if your son were ready to be a starting college quarterback. Who cares, we are the laughing stock of the SOCON at 1 and 9. We all wish we could push a fast forward button to get you out of town quicker. Can't wait to see your rear headlights heading down I-24!

Thank God Rodney is gone after this abortion of a season but Rick Hart should tell him this week that if he puts his son in at quarterback, especially when we still have a chance of winning the game, he will personally come to the sideline and dismiss him on the spot. Rodney said after the game that he already knew his fate and it was up to the kids left behind to win the game. The thing Rodney seems to be oblivious to is by posting a 1-11 record and having it on your coaching resume makes it all the more difficult to get a job. If I were an assistant coach for the Mocs and Rodney put his son Sloan in the game when it is 13 to 7 at the beginning of the second half I would grab Rodney by his sweater vest and say that if you do that I am walking off the field with my players. A 1-11 record hurts the assistant coaches, the players, and the program but L-Rod (Loser Rodney)loser Rodney doesn't give a crap and is throwing the games by putting his barely able to start in high school quarterback son in the game at crucial times. It has been said that football does not build character it reveals character. Rodney Allison's character is being revealed before our eyes and it is not honorable. And yes, it will be difficult for Rodney to find a job on the college level. His few friends in the business have either been fired themselves or are retired losers also. We all can't wait until this sad chapter of UTC football closes and we can start anew this spring. Rick we are counting on you to bring in a winner. In closing this Saturday's Appy game is going to be ugly, as is the Citadel game, as is the Samford game. A record setting 1 and 11 season for Rodney Allison. Maybe his wife can get a job after the season and support the family. It will take a while for L-Rod to find work!

Rodney Allison said he had a "good feeling" about the Furman game, we lost 35 to 10. He predicted we would win yesterday's game,we lost 42-7. Under L-Rod's (Loser Rodney) bungling, I won't say leadership becasue he does not provide any, we will probably find a way to lose next Saturday to open date. Rick Hart, please step up, show some leadership and fire Allison. The open date provides a great time to tell the team and recruits that we are embarking on an exciting new direction for Mocs football. Assign an assistant the interim coaching job and lets go out and hire a dynamic, driven assistant or head coach that can change the losing mindset and culture of the program, recruit according to need, inspire, motivate and train players, sell the program to the UTC students and city and most of all WIN!

I guess we have moved into the wacko, manic depressive phase of Coach Allison's tenure. When you have a won loss record of 17 and 46 you become delusional and suffer from visions of grandeur. Allison should have been fired by UTC last year when they suffered the embarrasing home opener loss to D-2 neighbor Carson Newman. That loss alone set UTC football recruiting back ten years. I do like the challenge to a Mocs team that has very little to play for as compared to their opponent, Elon, that is vying for a SOCON championship. Look for them to take Allison's bulletin board comment and drive Allison and his coaching staff into the ground with a game plan that starts early and stays late as they roll to victory. Just like JSU,GSU,Furman and Wofford the opposing coach will show Rodney no respect as they pull out to a big lead they will continue to throw the ball deep in the fourth quarter. They do not respect Rodney but they do hope he stays. His teams fight hard early but when faced with adversity they give up and you can cruise to an easy win. I urge all Mocs football fans that care about the program to bring a paper bag to put on your head when Elon pulls out to a big lead and Rodney puts his son in against the second teamers. Also please e-mail AD Rick Hart at Rick-Hart@utc.edu and demand that Rodney be fired. The team, UTC and Chattanooga deserve better.
