No eraser left and they haven't even sharpened their pencil yet. I love it.
I particularly like when they bring up how the non-partisan CBO says Obama's plan will increase the deficit, but conveniently ignore the same CBO when their 2004 and 2006 studies found that medical malpractice only makes up about 2% of US health spending. I thought tort reform was the silver dagger.
Snooksie. If you are referring to an insensitive post by Erik Nelson on The Huffington Post, I would agree that was in very bad taste. But, it is a blog and people are free to write things that others find very reprehensible. HuffPo did remove that post and Bill O'Reilly rightfully critized it. Rush Limbaugh compared Chelsea to a dog, which is a socially common joke in the US for being ugly. So, that is just lightly rough, but what if Chelsea had been disfigured from an accident or had a cleft lip? Then it would be terrible right? The real problem is that we are collectively discussing completely irrelevant issues because our national media focuses on personal attacks and pointless stories (e.g. John Edwards' haircuts) rather than policies and past performance. When Brian Williams calls Trig retarded on NBC Nightly News and laughs, then you may have a point. Little know bloggers and random websites don't carry much weight... unless of course Drudge picks it up.
Yes, it must be so hard for Mrs. Palin to be lambasted so harshly by Mr. Bennett. How hypocritical can you possibly be? "Quitter." She resigned from her post in a rambling manner which gave no coherent reason for her choice and didn't even take questions afterward. How is that not quitting or being a quitter? I suppose the drive bys would have been too harsh with their questioning. Like Couric: What newspapers do you read? Ouch. Tough one.
Are you not aware how the right wing chatter box have made it their sole purpose to assault "dems" character? Howard Dean, John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi and the Clinton's come to mind. Funny though, they are all still in politics.
"Enhanced interrogation." It's amazing how this term keeps getting used (very often by Fox News) when we tried the Japanese for using water boarding (torture) on US troops after WWII.
And, these "techniques" came from SERE training, which is what we give some of our military personnel so they can survive, evade, resist, and escape from... torture!
But, we'll know it was worth it when Cheney's requested memos get released. "See here, this detainee said there would be a bombing in Las Vegas on December 25, 2007. And there wasn't a bombing, therefore torturing this man saved Las Vegas and JohnnyRingo's puppies."
rolando, I don't see how you can call the captain a fool and write so negatively about him without more information. You're presuming it is his call to arm his ship and crew. Don't you think the shipping company, insurance company, owner and whomever else runs the show would have a bigger say on that? I can't find where this boat was coming from, but it was taken 240 nm off the coast on Africa, which was a new tactic for the pirates. It seems to me this captian was trying to take humanitarian aid to Kenya for refugees and was avoiding the known danger zone.
Wow. dakgivens, can you not see the irony in your post? You talk about what terrible things Obama will do to our country, immediately placing blame for that which has not happened, and then point out how the limited length of Bush's tenure on 9/11 absolves him of any blame.
"Why do you not realize what one administration accomplishes may not produce effects until..." Yet Obama can turn out country socialist in 60 days. Everything is indeed not instant.
My favorite is when it snows a couple feet in Ohio and my conservative colleagues say, "So much for global warming!"
Rolando, come on... all the muzzling from the left! I don't care how strongly you support your party, but you have to at least see both sides play their fair share of games.
I don't know how much this is related, but I found this experience to be a nice irony:
I find myself at a lower end bar in a predominately conservative area a few months ago with a friend. We were drinking Sam Adams, the rest of the bar was primarily domestic lights. Later on, I'm in the restroom and this guy next to me says, "You're the guys drinking the four dollar beers." And I replied, "At least we're buying American," assuming that would probably strike a tone with him. He looked at me really puzzled. I explained how Anheuser-Busch, Coors and Miller are all foreign owned now and he just kind of stopped for a second. It seems the patriotic, "I just love my country" march of free market conservatives doesn't always pan out anymore-- just like some of the old thinking on our planet and other scientific endeavors. Maybe that would make Glenn Beck cry?
champ1, I think we actually agree on a lot of these things. I just didn't like the stat getting thrown without some backup or accuracy. The "infrastructure" topic bothers me because America should be able to drop a lot of money on our own country when we need it. It sucks that we are doing it now after racking up so much debt these last eight years. You can see exposed rebar on the supports underneath the bridge I cross to work each day. That should be in North Korea, not here. (Also like 'The Wire' reference. Great show.)
Yes, the wealthy pay more taxes, but I don't think it's as bad as some media channels would lead one to believe. I enjoyed this article speaking to that: http://www.slate.com/id/2213029/
rolando, the trouble is no one will ever agree on the 'truth' again with the partisan divide we have. I've sent that factcheck.org link of Obama's birth cert I sent you earlier to other people and they still believe it's fake. Come on! Some things have to be real. It's a shame we can't really discuss the problems anymore. People pick their sides and build up their walls.
It's good that we're at least attempting to discuss these things. Let's both stop some of the unnecessaries like this cartoon will disappear or Pelosi tricked the GOP.

Yeah, rolando. No one ever "went after" Chelsea Clinton...
